The Oswego Police Department will be conducting the next Citizen’s Police Academy from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for twelve weeks beginning March 11. Classes will be held in the Community Room at the Oswego Law Enforcement Center, 3525 US Route 34. Classes are free and size will be limited to 20 participants. Eligible applicants must be 18 years of age, reside in, own property or operate a business within the Village. .

Moose Jaw Police Service’s new K-9 unit has graduated from it’s five-month training program.
Constable Chad Scheske and his German Shepherd Banan along with Constable Jay Sills and his dog “Andy” received certificates for Drug Detection and General duties at the Board of Police Commissioners regular meeting Tuesday at City Hall.
The two German Shepherd are now two years old and are brothers from the same litter born in Washington State. Brian Amm of Canine Resources and Consulting says Shepherd are often chosen as police dogs because of their reliability.

In an effort to increase the community involvement with the Fayetteville Police Department and offer insight into the services it provides, the department will be hosting the fourth annual Citizens Police Academy at the Fayetteville Police Department. The purpose of the academy is to foster better communication between citizens and police through education.
The Citizens Police Academy will consist of two-hour classes held each week on Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., for 12 weeks. This instruction is comprehensive, covering a different area of the Police Department each week.

Together with the King County Sheriff’s Office, SeaTac and Burien Police are continuing their twice-yearly “Citizen’s Police Academy” program with an orientation on Thursday, March 11th, and classes on Wednesday nights from 6pm-9pm.
Here are the details:
WHAT: Citizen’s Police Academy Training
WHEN: Starts Thursday, March 11th and continues through April 24th. Classes are held on Wednesday nights from 6pm to 9pm at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center in Burien.

People who live or work in will have an opportunity to get an inside look into local law enforcement when the annual Citizens Police Academy begins March 10.
Feb. 26 is the deadline to apply for the free 10-week course. Classes meet every Wednesday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and include field trips and a ride-along with a patrol officer.
Information will be provided on the history of police work and crime in Cowlitz County. Topics will also include patrol procedure, drugs, firearms instruction, SWAT, K9 on patrol and gangs.

As a graduate of the Baytown Citizen Police Academy, I promised to let you all know when the next class was forming. In case you forgot, I had loads of fun, learned a lot about the inner workings of the Baytown Police Department, and lived to tell about some rather riveting moments during some hands-on class participation. The Clinton Township Police Department will hold an “Adult Police Academy” open to all county residents beginning Monday, March 29.
Topics to be covered include:
• Monday, March 29 — an overview of the criminal justice system
• Tuesday, April 6 — motor vehicle stops
• Tuesday, April 13 — driving while intoxicated enforcement education
• Tuesday, April 20 — sex crimes investigation and Megan’s Law update
• Tuesday, April 27 — cybercrimes
• Tuesday, May 4 — laser/radar instruction.

County officials today announced a plan to close the Burlington County Police Academy after the current class graduates next month, citing dwindling enrollment that does not justify the cost of the $377,000 program continuing.
The class scheduled to started March 15 has been cancelled and all operations thereafter will cease, said county Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio and county Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi this morning.

Dayton, Ohio Residents curious about the inner workings of their local police department are participating in Middletown’s first Citizens Police Academy.
About 18 residents and business owners — including former city councilmen Tony Marconi and Chris Amburgey — attended the first of 12 sessions held Tuesday, Feb. 2. The academy is free to those who signed up.
Participants will receive hands-on training in gun safety, operating a radar device and use of force with beanbag guns and Tasers.
