3 May 2010 No Comment

The Gender Responsive Policing (GRP) project in collaboration with National Police Bureau is organising a training programme for police officers commencing on tomorrow (Monday) at National Police Academy, Islamabad.
Mid-career police officers and those performing their duties as trainers have been selected from across the country for this programme.
This training is expected to help the police officers in dealing with women victims with sensitivity and respect, which would help in reducing gender, based violence in the country.
A senior police officer said that the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) developed by the project assisted by the police organisations would also be a part of the course. He said the programme would provide comprehensive guidelines to deal with women victims and investigating crimes against them.
He further said the programme would change the police culture by addressing the negative attitude of police officials/officers towards women who seek police assistance.
It was further said that the training would serve as a first step to sensitize police officers to mainstream gender in police organizations.
