Coconino County Citizen’s Police Academy starts March 3
The multi-agency Citizen’s Police Academy is set for a new session of hands-on, interactive introductions to several aspects of law enforcement.
The agenda for the spring session has been firmed up, and includes field trips to the county jail, the state crime lab and a shooting range. Plus, there will be presentations by detectives, drug and DUI enforcement officers, and other law enforcement agents as well as attorneys.
The academy meets weekly beginning Wednesday, March 3 and runs through mid-May. Most classes are on Wednesdays, 6 to 9 p.m., at the law enforcement facility, 911 E. Sawmill Road, in Flagstaff. There are also some Saturday field trips.
There are no physical requirements or exams like a real academy, just exposure to many different facets of the job.
For more information, contact Lt. Ken Koch at the Flagstaff Police Department at 214-2538, or Gerry Blair at the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office at 226-5089.
Applications will not be accepted after Wednesday, Feb. 24.
