Victoria Police after more recruits

3 May 2010 No Comment

Victoria Police – Chief Commissioner Simon Overland has urged people from all cultural backgrounds to consider a career in the police force at a graduation ceremony in Melbourne yesterday. Victoria Police media release

More than 60 police recruits graduated at the Victoria Police Academy yesterday morning and now they want more people to join them following this week’s commitment by the Government to spend $561.3 million over the next five years recruiting an extra 1700 new police.

“It is fantastic to see people with such a wealth of life experience joining Victoria Police. We are strongly focused on the need to attract police officers of all ages and from a range of cultural backgrounds.

“It is a privilege to be a member of this organisation. Like any privilege it comes with responsibilities to meet the high standards we expect of ourselves and, most importantly, that the community expects of us.

“Joining Victoria Police is not just about having a job, it is about embracing a career which offers a wide range of different and challenging roles. Few professions can match the diversity of police work.

“Victoria Police is an organisation that is committed to developing and training our people. It is not for everyone and we are looking for people who clearly demonstrate and uphold Victoria Police’s values.” Mr Overland said.
